After the big products, the finance manager often turns to the “small stuff”: key replacement if you lose a fob, paintless dent repair for door dings, windshield protection for rock chips. Each is pitched at a few dollars a month. Here’s the free part: always ask for the full price. “It’s only $9 a month for the key” is $648 over 72 months, and a smart key for a mainstream brand commonly costs $250 to $600 at a dealer.

Small products carry big margins. Individually they often run $300 to $900, and bundled together they can add $1,500 or more to a loan. Some cover things your auto insurance may already handle. Below: how these products are sold, each one rated against real repair prices, a worked example of the small-products bundle, how bundles get pre-loaded into payments, how to cancel, and what to say so you can decide in about a minute at the desk.
